Becoming Unbreakable - Running an Ice Ultra in the Arctic Circle

I've created this page because I want to make a difference.

Hi Legendary People,

My name is Steve Turner, and I'm just your average everyday person who loves a bit of a challenge.

In March 2025, I was diagnosed with a brain tumour on my medulla oblongata. Since then, the tumour has been closely monitored, and thankfully it appears to be slow growing. While no one wants to hear they have a brain tumour, I know how fortunate I am. It looks to be slow growing and not aggressive, giving me more time before facing an extremely risky surgery.

Rather than letting that diagnosis define me, I've chosen to embrace life even more.

I've always loved adventure and pushing my limits, so what better way to do that and hopefully raise much needed funds for brain cancer research than by running an ultra in the Arctic Circle.

In February 2027, I'll be taking on the Beyond the Ultimate Ice Ultra in Swedish Lapland. Over five days, I'll cover 230 kilometres on foot while carrying everything I need to survive. I'll be battling temperatures ranging from -10°C to -40°C across frozen landscapes in one of the harshest environments on Earth.

I'm taking on this challenge in support of Carrie's Beanies 4 Brain Cancer, an incredible charity dedicated to funding vital brain cancer research. Every dollar raised will help bring hope to people and families facing a diagnosis like mine.

My goal isn't just to cross the finish line. I hope this journey inspires others whether you're facing illness, adversity, or simply your own self-doubt to step outside your comfort zone, embrace the uncomfortable, and discover what you're truly capable of.

Life has a way of throwing challenges at all of us. We can't always choose those challenges, but we can choose to do hard things on purpose. I believe that by willingly stepping into discomfort, we build the resilience to face whatever life puts in front of us. We can Become Unbreakable!
